How to Water Roses
Water deeply, not frequently
– Soak the soil to 6–12 inches deep to reach roots.
– Water 2–3 times per week in dry weather (less if it rains).
Water early morning to prevent fungal diseases.
Water at the base. Avoid wetting leaves and flowers to reduce black spot and mildew risk.
Sandy soil dries faster (needs more water); clay soil holds water longer. Hot, windy weather increases water needs.
A 2–3 inch mulch layer keeps soil moist and cool.
